|Mixing and/or Mastering (for projects not recorded at Dream Science Recording)|
|This service is for recording artists who want professional mixing and/or mastering carried out on projects they recorded using their own studio recording gear (or third party recording studio).Here is how the process works:The artist or band submits theproject formand subsequently receives an email that includes a price quote confirmation. The artist then uploads their audio files to a file transfer service such as DropBox or Google Drive and makes the payment via the PayPal button below or on the “Booking&Info” page. After the artist’s files have been made available via email download link, the songs are then mixed and/or mastered and the artist receives a “DDP image folder” (the digital equivalent of a physical CD master). The DDP folder provided also includes a DDP player which allows you to review the WAV files of your mastered CD, as well as extract them as individual WAV files or MP3 versions of them. Prices include one round of revisions or “touch ups.”|
|1 – 3 Songs||4 – 6 Songs||7 – 10 Songs|
|Mastering||$45 per song||$40 per song||$35 per song|
|Mixing 16 to 24 tracks||$100 per song||$95 per song||$90 per song|
|Discounted price for both services||$140 per song||$130 per song||$120 per song|
|Mixing and Mastering NotesWhen a mixdown of a song consists of more than 24 tracks, there is an added fee of $3. per track. For example, if your project has 6 songs, and each of those songs have 48 tracks, the mixing rate would be $167 per song ($95+ $72 = $167).|
If you hire us to do both the mixing and mastering of your songs, the discounted additional cost for the mastering portion of the services remains the same ($40 for 1 to 3 songs, $35- for 4 to 6 songs, and $30- For 7 to 10 songs no matter how many tracks make up your mixes). After you submit your project form, we will reply via email to any questions you may have had and include a price quote confirmation.
|Mixing and Mastering Service OptionsUpon request, Auto-Tune applied to a track in fully automatic mode – No chargeAuto-Tune applied to a track requiring any type of automation -$5 per track, per song. Example: The recording of your song has three singers, they are all a little off pitch on the bridge of the song. Auto-Tune fixes all three vocal tracks during the bridge but unfortunately disrupts the three vocals tracks during the verse, requiring Auto-Tune to be automated off during the verses and on during the bridge for all three vocal tracks. The Auto-Tune Option Fee for that song would be $15.Digital Noise Reduction. $5 per channel of audio. Example 1: The recording of your electric guitar track has an electrical hum that you want digitally reduced. The fee would be $5. Example 2: Your stereo mix of a song, (2 channels of audio) has some hissing noise and static pops that you want digitally reduced during the mastering process. The fee would be $10Editing – $1 per track, per edit. An edit is defined as moving or removing a sound. Example 1: The recording of your song has 30 tracks. You don’t like the way your band played the first chorus. You want all of the tracks that comprise the first chorus to be replaced by the second chorus. The Editing fee for that would be $30. Example 2: An acoustic guitar was recorded with a microphone and a direct input. There are three locations in the recording where you want the guitar string-finger “squeaks” removed. The Editing fee for that would be $6.Mix revisions – $25 per song. Sometimes an artist may want something about the mix of their song to be out of the norm for their genre of music and forgot to mention it in the Project Form. For example, we send you our mix of your song, and everything sounds great except that you want: the lead guitar to be unusually loud during the solo, or maybe you want the bass drum to be weaker in the mix. Or an artist may have forgotten to mention in the mix notes of the Project Form that they wanted a particular type of effect on the solo guitar in the mix, or they wanted all of the drums panned to the right speaker during the intro. A new mix of your song with up to four such mix revisions would cost $25. Each revision above the first four is $5 each. If you purchased mixing AND mastering services, there is no additional mastering fee for such mix revisions because the mastering settings for your mix are stored separately. Importation of New “Takes” – $20, plus $5 per track. Example 1: Your multi-track project has already been mixed, and you subsequently record a better lead vocal take on the second verse. To re-open your project, download and import that new vocal take, match the new second verse lead vocal levels to the original mix, convert the new mix to MP3 and email it to you, the fee would be $25. Example 2: Your multi-track project has already been mixed, and your guitarist subsequently got a new electric guitar with a much better sound so he re-recorded all four guitar parts of the original mix and sent them in to replace the four guitar tracks of the original mix. The fee for that would be $40. If you purchased mixing AND mastering services, there is no additional mastering fee for the importation of new “takes” because the mastering settings for your mix are stored separately. Importation of New Tracks – $25, plus $10 per track. Example 1: Your multi-track project has already been mixed, and you want to add a tambourine track to brighten up the mix. To re-open your project, download and import the tambourine track into the mixer, process, route and set its level, convert the new mix to MP3 and email it to you, the fee would be $30. Example 2: If your band added a saxophone player and you want his track on your song along with the added tambourine track, the fee would be $20+$10+$10= $40. If you purchased mixing AND mastering services, there is no additional mastering fee for the importation of new tracks because the original mastering settings for your mix are stored separately.
